Annual billing includes a free custom domain for the first year. The price difference from Business ($23/month) is only $5/month - but that $5 eliminates the 3% transaction fee on every sale.

What Is Included in Basic Commerce?

Everything in Business, Plus:

Zero Squarespace transaction fees. The Business plan charges 3% per sale. Basic Commerce eliminates this entirely. You only pay payment processor fees (Stripe ~2.9% + $0.30 per transaction). On $1,000/month in sales, this saves $30/month vs Business.

Customer accounts. Buyers can create accounts to track orders, save payment info, and view purchase history. This increases repeat purchase rates and simplifies checkout for returning customers.

Point of sale (POS). Sell in person using Squarespace's POS integration. Accept card payments at markets, pop-ups, or retail locations. Inventory syncs automatically between online and in-person sales.

E-commerce analytics. Sales performance data, revenue tracking, conversion rates, and product-level analytics. Understand which products sell best, where customers drop off, and how to optimize your store. Pair with Squarespace Analytics for complete performance visibility.

Checkout on your domain. Customers complete purchases on yourdomain.com - not a Squarespace-branded checkout page. This builds trust and keeps branding consistent throughout the buying experience.

What Is NOT in Basic Commerce?

These features require the Advanced Commerce plan ($52/month):

When to Choose Basic Commerce vs Other Plans

Choose Basic Commerce over Business when: You sell products regularly (more than a few per month). Your monthly sales exceed $170 - the zero transaction fee saves more than the $5/month upgrade cost. You need customer accounts, POS, or branded checkout.

Choose Basic Commerce over Advanced Commerce when: You do not need abandoned cart recovery, subscription products, or advanced shipping. Your e-commerce needs are straightforward - product listings, checkout, and order management. You want to keep costs lower while still having a professional store.

Stay on Business when: You sell very occasionally and the 3% fee is negligible. Your primary need is Custom CSS and promotional tools, not dedicated e-commerce.
